GSO Day Six: The Adventure Continues Posted on January 29th, 2012 by

The sun rose once again over Table Mountain in a cloudless sky as the Gustavus Symphony prepared for its final hours in Cape Town on Day Six in South Africa. The city and its people have been warm, gracious and accommodating, and we know that we will miss our new friends and, especially our two drivers, Edward and Lloyd, who have moved us with great skill and humor, in and outside of Cape Town. Our short time could not have been better as the schedule mixed our gifts of music and opportunities to explore the great beauty of this land and enjoy the wondrous hospitality we have been shown.

Sadness at leaving blended with anticipation and excitement for the next step in our adventure best described the mood of the ensemble and the Companions as we boarded the buses one final time for the trip to the airport and our flight to Johannesburg. By day’s end, the Symphony had traveled across South Africa to Johannesburg, the City of Gold.

Photographer Anders Björling has shared many of his spectacular photos with you through this journal. Most of those photos have been of the Symphony members and the people of South Africa we have met. On this travel day, here are images of this beautiful country, captured through the lens of his camera.
